Barry J. Glick, Co-Founder and CEO
Barry Glick is a visionary entrepreneur who has co-founded and led the early stage development of game-changing businesses in the Internet, location-based services and enterprise software fields. Most recently, Barry was Vice President for Consumer Web, Mobile and Media Products at NAVTEQ Corp, acquired by Nokia in July, 2008 for $7B. Prior to NAVTEQ, Barry served as CEO of ObjectFX Inc., and was a co-founder of Acuity Mobile Inc and GeoCodex, LLC. From 2002 to 2004, Barry was the Chairman and CEO of Webraska Mobile Technologies, the LBS pioneer based in France. Barry co-founded GeoSysems Global Corp, later renamed MapQuest.com in 1994 and served as its CEO and Chairman, raising two rounds of venture capital. He oversaw the launch of MapQuest.com in 1996, the pioneering consumer and B2B mapping and directions web site. MapQuest went public in April 1999 with a market capitalization of $700 million. In June 2000, AOL purchased MapQuest in a stock deal valued at $1.1 billion. Barry received a PhD. in Geography from the State University of NY (Buffalo), and a master's degree in Policy Planning and Regional Analysis from Cornell University.
Yaser Bishr, Co-Founder, Exec. VP and CTO
Yaser is responsible for developing and managing a technology portfolio that sustains the competitive advantage of smartRealm. Yaser is a recognized leader in spatial semantic technology where he published and contributed to several books on the subject since 1994. A 10 years serial entrepreneur veteran in Europe and the US, Yaser is also the co-founder of Image Mattes LLC. During his time at Image Matters Yaser’s vision and leadership led to the award-wining semantic web platform – knowledgeSmarts. Prior to Image Matters, Yaser was the co-founder of the software engineering firm Millennia GmbH, Germany. Within a year Yaser was able to acquire contracts in China, the US, Europe, and the Middle East. Yaser was also the Associate Technical Director of the OGC Europe focusing on expanding the organization’s membership. Yaser was also Assistant Professor at the University of Muenster where he created a strong semantic web R&D program that earned the school a leading position in Europe. Yaser received an MBA from Duke University and a Ph.D. in spatial semantics from the University of Wageningen and Master’s degree in Expert System and GIS from ITC, in the Netherlands.
